Research Australia has launched the report Australian Obesity Research: Global leadership and local change. The report looks at the challenge, current research for obesity, the high calibre talent in the country and opportunities to create greater community outcomes. It was funded by Novo Nordisk.

The launch event at NSW Parliament House included support from the Hon Brad Hazzard MP, NSW Minister for Health, the Hon Tara Moriarty MLC, shadow minister for Medical Research. Dr. Kathryn Williams, one of our Collective Leader, gave a powerful talk about the importance of ensuring research meets the needs of communities impacted by obesity, how obesity management can be very complex, particularly for patients with severe cases and the potential for us to develop some of the best obesity programs and services in the world using evidence.

Thanto Annette Schmiede, also a Collective Leader (on the board) and chair of the Research Australia board for helping drive an increased strategic focus on obesity
