World Obesity Day 2024

Feb 12, 2024 | Events

On March 4th we marked World Obesity Day 2024 by hosting our fifth World Obesity Day rapid talks event with a range of expert speakers across lived experience, weight stigma, obesity prevention, and obesity management and treatment.

This year we focused on the need for action on the National Obesity Strategy (now launched two years ago), and presented our national top advocacy actions for prevention, treatment and stigma reduction and shared our collaboratively developed budget submission.

The global theme this year was “Let’s Talk About Obesity and…” It is an opportunity to continue to challenge damaging misconceptions that halt progress and emphasise the need for collaboration and collective action. Like with other health conditions, a range of interventions and perspectives are needed to improve health and reduce risks of further disease for people living with obesity.
